Anglia English Placement Tests

Information for teachers

Please note that our placement test provides only an approximate guide to a student's ability. We would advise you to try our past exam papers for a more detailed assessment.

Our placement tests are divided into three categories, each with smaller tests. Please note that students can only start a test at the beginning of these three categories, the idea being that they progress until they achieve their level.

There is some duplication of levels; for example, Stage 4 of the middle and Stage 1 on the higher level are both Anglia Intermediate level questions.

If students have the time, they can start at the lower level and work up to the Mastery Level- provided they achieve high scores throughout. Students need a score of approximately 80% to progress to the next level.

Students can make multiple attempts for now, although this will soon be reduced to only three attempts due to the high volume of free placement test taken.

Our placement tests are free, and their maintenance is demanding, so we thank you for your patience while we have been resolving some technical issues.

To enable the filtering of results, we ask students to provide their name and teacher or class name in each sub-test.

NB: Our tests require headphones or speakers, as audio and video files are used.
